Pouring Over Pages - an interview with Mary Bailey, Editor-in-Chief of The Tomato Food & Drink magazine
Wine not learn about Mary's hyperlocal support of the YEG's Food & Drink Scene ...
Welcome Food Explorers!
We have a lot of new Subscribers to our Substack platform - welcome everyone! I wanted to do a quick introduction to the awesomeness that happens on this platform. Substack is an incredible place for writers and creators to host their content. What we do here is:
usually 1 article a week that myself (Colleen) and Jason write together. We love this process and the final article is a great merger of our two styles
if there is a piece of content that we’ve done on YouTube that we really don’t want you to miss, we’ll also post it here with the links and why we love it and think you would too.
I (Colleen) also love to create recipes to go along with some of the articles and if you go back and look at some of our previous posts you will find a few of these.
Lastly, writing is something I’ve always loved doing and Jason is an editor extraordinaire so we work together. I have so many cool articles in my notebook, I just need to get them down so there may be weeks here and there where we have more great writing coming your way!
Take your time cruising around Substack and we love when people engage and ask questions or answer questions that we pose in our articles - so don’t be shy! Chat with us!
And now on to today’s post…..a YouTube video we don’t want you to miss!
I had the absolute pleasure to interview Mary Bailey, Editor in Chief of the Tomato Food & Drink magazine. Youtube link here:
When I think about Edmonton and Food and Drink - well I think of Mary Bailey. She’s been at the forefront of bringing all the amazing local eats and drinks to the pages of The Tomato Food & Drink for over 25 years! During our interview we go into details about the origin of the magazine, her work with Canadian Culinary Championships, all about wine, and so much more. It was truly a delight to have her on the podcast. Every issue of the magazine I learn something new about the culinary scene in Edmonton and because of that, we think you may enjoy this episode!
To keep it simple we’ve included the time stamps below for all the deets on our convo.
Make sure to pick up your real life hard copy of the latest edition of The Tomato which should be out the first week in May 2024.
Better yet, sign up for their excellent newsletter.
Enjoy the episode everyone!
